The Wellbees Challenge, a global inter-company step competition organized by new generation employee wellbeing platform Wellbees as part of the World Bee Day celebrations on 20 May, is being held for the fifth time this year, on high demand from employees. Employees from 55 companies operating in 57 countries across six continents are participating in the competition from November 1-25. Within the scope of the Wellbees Challenge, UNICEF will secure a month of vital, Ready to Use Therapeutic Food Packages for undernourished children. As in past competitions, the steps serve a good cause and a great social volunteering project.

Melis Abacıoğlu: “A challenge that will nourish our body and soul.”

Melis Abacıoğlu, Wellbees’ founder, states that Wellbees plays a significant role in helping employees acquire new healthy habits and that “82% of more than 100 thousand employees using the platform develop healthy routines.” Participants in our step challenge take 60% more steps and continue to do so after the challenge. On the other hand, this is a challenge not only to ourselves but also to our teammates and other companies. But above all, our small steps together make a huge difference in the grand scheme of things. In past competitions, we planted over a thousand saplings and brought electricity to a village in Africa with solar energy. Now, we are taking steps to contribute to the healthy growth of children worldwide through the UNICEF. UNICEF’s vital, Ready to Use Therapeutic Food Packages consist of energy-rich blends with the right nutritional balance to help undernourished children recover as quickly as possible. We anticipate over 500 million steps to be taken in this challenge, thanks to the willingness of employees to challenge themselves and others and their motivation to support children through UNICEF. This challenge will nourish our body and soul.”

A Wellbees algorithm determines a specific step count target for companies.

A Wellbees algorithm determines a specific step count target for companies for the competition. Thanks to this target, which Wellbees specified by considering the companies’ active users and step-taking habits, every company will have a chance to be at the top, regardless of the number of employees. In the challenge, which tracks which companies take the most steps and walk the fastest, employees also compete in age and length of walking categories. Unlike previous competitions, in this competition, not only companies but also departments within the company challenge each other.

The Wellbees Challenge results will be announced in December with an awards ceremony.
